Rooted in its historical role as a sanctuary for cleansing and reflection, Kōun-in 'Zen Retreats' offers transformative Zen practices to enhance well-being in today’s complex world. Two distinct retreat plans are available, each designed to provide a unique and transformative experience.
You can choose between the following options available in the order box:
Option1: Zen Retreat Plan
Take part in transformative Zen practices led by a Buddhist monk, including seated meditation (zazen) and calligraphy (shakyō). This experience lasts around three hours.
Program:
- Zen Tea Ceremony: 30 minutes
- Zen Wellness Yoga: 30 minutes
- Seated Meditation (Zazen): 30 minutes
- Calligraphy (Shakyō): 30 minutes
- Zen Walk: 60 minutes
Option 2: Zen Retreat Shojin Ryori and Zen Noodles (Vegan Ramen) Plan
This retreat combines seated meditation and a mindfulness course with a nourishing meal made from locally sourced produce.
Savour the art of Shojin Ryori (traditional Buddhist vegetarian cuisine) while learning the mindful eating practices of Zen. The experience lasts approximately four hours.

- Seated Meditation (Zazen): 30 minutes
- Shojin Cuisine and Zen Noodles (Vegan Ramen): 60 minutes
