Nishi Honganji SquareThe temple near Ximending which was completed in the early 1900s, was a branch temple established in Taiwan by the Nishi Honggan-ji in Kyoto. Later it was damaged in a fire, and was partially renovated in 2006. Now you can see the renovated bell tower.

In the post-war era, the Octagon building was used as a performing arts venue. Today, the building is designated as a historical site by the city and serves as a cultural and creative space for exhibitions and performances.

Tianhou TempleOne of Taipei's many temples dedicated to the "Mazu" (馬祖), a deity worshipped by many of southern Chinese heritage and sea-faring people. The temple has been in existence for the past 270 years as one of the 3 great temples of the Wanhua District, and was reconstructed after a fire, being completed in 1959 on Mazu's millennium anniversary.
