Return details
When you arrive, you will be issued a flintlock musket & a cartridge box to report for militia training, 1775 style. Once you are properly armed, we'll walk out the trail to our primitive rural range to "learn the drill" of how to load and fire the musket.
After everyone is comfortable with the instructions and understands what the commands mean, we start loading and firing with live ammo. We shoot at life sized targets at 25 yards which is within the capabilities of novice shooters.
In between shots we'll talk about some historic details of who used this sort of musket and how.
The last two rounds fire give you a chance to race against the clock and see how quickly you can load and fire the musket. Can you break the record? You might be surprised! The current record holder did so after never handling a musket before!
All supplies and safety gear are provided.
This is rural NH and you should dress for playing outside.
Class size is limited to four people who will actually shoot, non-shooting spectators are welcome.
