Ayaz-KalaAyaz Kala is actually a group of three ancient desert fortresses (Ayaz Kala 1, 2, and 3), believed to have been built between the 4th century BCE and the 7th century CE. These fortresses were part of the ancient civilization of Khorezm, which played a key role along early Silk Road routes

Fortress Toprak KalaToprak Kala, meaning “Earthen Fortress,” was a large, fortified city built around the 1st–2nd century CE. Unlike Ayaz Kala (which was mainly defensive), Toprak Kala served as a royal residence and administrative center of the Khorezmian rulers.

Kyzyl KalaKyzyl Kala means “Red Fortress”, named after the reddish color of its mud-brick walls. It dates to the 1st–4th century CE and served as a fortified residence or defensive structure connected to nearby Toprak Kala.

Aqcha Lake is one of the oldest lakes in Karakalpakstan. It is 40 metres deep. In the past it consisted of 3 parts, but as water from Amu Darya stopped coming 2 parts of it dried out.
