Etna summit craters trekking
Overview
Get the chance to reach the top of Mt. Etna at 3340m above sea level on a guided trekking tour and learn about volcanoes from your expert volcanological guide.
Meet your guide at the Ashàra Info Point. After a short briefing, start the hike that will lead you to the top at an altitude of 3340masl. With the Etna cable car, you will quickly gain altitude up to 2500 masl and then with a special Unimog 4x4, you will climb up to 2750 masl.
From 2750 masl you will start the ascent up to 3340 masl of about 2 hours with 2-3 intermediate breaks to enjoy the panorama along the lava fields with a lunar aspect that will lead you to the Central Crater of Etna, where you could admire the volcanic and geological peculiarities that characterize the summit area.
Crossing the crater terrace you will also visit the other summit craters. Then, downhill, fun sands will lead you to the craters of 2002-2003, and equipped with a helmet you will visit a lava flow channel. After admiring the great Valle del Bove and returning to 2500 masl, the cable car will take you back to the starting point.
