Exploring Delhi at your own pace
Overview
After getting picked up from the hotel, you will be driven to the places you want to see. Delhi has an extremely rich and colorful history and has been home to many mighty kingdoms, and other powerful influences. Naturally, the city is a treasure trove of majestic historical structures. We suggest that you take your first stop at Red Fort in Old Delhi. This is one of the most famous and impressive of India’s forts.
A couple of highly popular attractions are the ‘Diwan-I-Am’ and ‘Diwan-I-Khas’ halls. The famed Peacock Throne used to adorn the latter. Next, head to the Jama Masjid, which is one of the grandest mosques in the world. While in Old Delhi, you may also check out the old and chaotic bustling markets of Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazaar. Now, it will be a good idea to proceed to Humayun’s Tomb. The lush idyllic gardens around the tomb add a tremendous sense of tranquility to the atmosphere. You may also visit the grand old market of Connaught Place. It remains a major shopping hub in Delhi and many well-known brands have their outlets here.
Furthermore, another gem of an attraction is the National Gandhi Museum and Library. The museum is full of old paintings, literature and personal belongings of Mahatma Gandhi. While eight hours may not be enough to visit all these places, you can choose six of the above-mentioned attractions that appeal to you. Your guide will plan the itinerary accordingly. At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel.
