Guided tour of Hue's historic temples and scenic landscapes
Overview
Your day begins with a pick-up from your central Hue hotel by a guide and driver. The first stop on your journey is the serene Vong Canh hill. From its peak, you'll be treated to panoramic views of Hue's scenic landscape. This tranquil spot also serves as an introduction to both the city of Hue and Buddhism in Hue. A deep, calming inhale of the clean air sets the tone for the rest of your tour.
Next, you'll discover the Tu Hieu temple, nestled at the edge of a pine forest and steeped in history dating back nearly 200 years. Here, you'll learn about the touching story of Nhat Dinh's filial piety under the Nguyen dynasty. As you explore this peaceful place, your guide will share insights about the renowned Zen Master, Thich Nhat Hanh. You'll even have the opportunity to join in with the monks' regular chanting sessions.
Following this spiritual experience, it's time for lunch. Under the guidance of a local lady from Hue, you'll prepare a meal using simple ingredients and traditional methods. After savoury delights, you'll head towards Thien Mu Pagoda, one of Hue City's oldest pagodas, boasting over 400 years of history. Along the way, you'll make a stop at Huyen Khong temple, a rare example of a Theravada Buddhist temple in Hue.
As the day draws closer, bid farewell to your companions and return to the city. You'll be dropped off at your accommodation, marking the end of your enlightening tour.
