Guided tour of Knossos and Heraklion from Chania
Overview
Are you ready to travel straight to the heart of the Minoan Crete? This tour starts with an early pickup from your accommodation between 6.40am and 7.50am. Around 9am you and your group will stop to have a typical Greek breakfast.
After almost two hours you will arrive in Knossos. Knossos is the site of the most important and better-known palace of Minoan civilization. According to tradition, it was the seat of the legendary king Minos. The Palace is also connected with thrilling legends, such as the myth of the Labyrinth with the Minotaur and the story of Daedalus and Icarus.
Your tour of the palace will last approx. 2 hours, and after that you will slope away to the city of Heraklion and the Archeological museum, which is one of the most notable museums of Greece and one of the most important in Europe. The museum includes exhibits from all the eras of Cretan prehistory and history but also collections with unique masterpieces of Minoan art. At the end of the tour, you will have free time (1.30pm-3.30pm) to visit the city of Heraklion for shopping or food. You will get back around 6pm-6.30pm.
