Highlights of Phnom Penh full-day private tour
Overview
Set off from your hotel to the majestic Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda complex. Then you will walk to the nearby National Museum- a beautiful sandstone museum that showcases the world’s largest collection of Khmer art. Situated atop a 27-meter high knoll, the temple overlooks the city and offers a pleasant green respite for tourists and locals alike.
In the afternoon you will visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former secondary school that was converted into one of the regime’s largest detention and torture centers, Security Prison 21 by Khmer Rouge. There you will discover the museum chronicles of the Cambodian genocide. It is considered an important educational site and there you can find documents of the atrocities that occurred within its walls. Please note that the images on display are graphic and can be unsettling for some viewers.
The tour ends on a lighter notewith a visit to Phsar Thmey, Phnom Penh’s central market and an Art Deco landmark. You can follow your guide through the labyrinth of stalls as you learn more about the everyday life of modern Cambodians
