The first place you will visit is Jvari Monastery, an ancient temple dating back to the 6th century AD, located near Georgia’s ancient capital, Mtskheta. Perched atop a high mountain, it offers picturesque views of the surrounding area, including the confluence of the turbulent Aragvi and Kura rivers. The monastery attracts thousands of visitors thanks to its remarkable architecture, stunning location, and rich historical significance. The name “Jvari” translates from Georgian as “The Cross,” Since 1994, Jvari Monastery has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, underscoring its global cultural importance.

Next, we continue to the ancient capital of Georgia — Mtskheta, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mtskheta has been inhabited for more than 2,600 years and once served as the capital of the early Georgian Kingdom of Iberia till 5th. From the parking area, we will walk to the historical center of Mtskheta, passing through its charming narrow streets filled with souvenir shops, wine tastings, and traditional Georgian sweets. The highlight of our visit will be the ancient fortification with Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the burial site of Christ’s Robe.
