Escape the crowds and enter a quiet Showa-era home in Kyoto’s Nishijin district. Shodō is a practice of presence - calming the mind through brush, ink, and breath.

With personal guidance in English, you will learn the basics of Japanese calligraphy, including stroke order, balance, and brush technique. You will create your own artwork on a traditional hanging scroll and seal it with a stamp to take home.

Beginners are warmly welcome. The experience takes place in a calm, small-group setting.
