Memorable drive to Agra – the city of Mughal treasures
Overview
First, you will be picked up from your hotel in Delhi and driven to Agra. The drive will take around four hours and upon reaching Agra, your first stop will be the spectacular Agra Fort. Then, you can satisfy your cravings for Indian flavors over a delicious lunch at a local restaurant on direct payment. After lunch, it will be time to visit the world-famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Taj Mahal. Ironically, this beautiful structure was the outcome of the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan’s grief, for his deceased wife. He built the Taj Mahal as a tribute to her. Built in white marble, inlaid with precious stones, the Taj Mahal shelters Shah Jahan and Mumtaz, who lie united in death here.
Then you will head to Itmad-ud-Daulah’s tomb, your last attraction of the day. Poetically described as a jewel box and called the Baby Taj, this stunning white garden tomb was built on the orders of Noor Jahan; the daughter of Itmad-ud-Daulah, and the wife of the Mughal Emperor, Jahangir. Its inlaid carvings and designs are almost no less magnificent than the ones adorning the Taj. Finally, you will be driven back to Delhi, and dropped off at your hotel.
