The tour offers views of historic sites such as Itsukushima Shrine and the Great Torii from the sea. During the tour, guests can go ashore to visit shopping streets and Japanese sweets. If guests wish, they can be taken to temples such as Daisho-in Temple or Senjo-kaku Temple. The departure point is close to the pier (ferry terminal), so this course is recommended for day trips from Kyoto.
NOTE : TIDE INFORMATION
Miyajima’s scenery changes beautifully with the tide. At high tide, above approx. 250 cm, Itsukushima Shrine and the Great Torii appear to float on the sea. When the tide is above approx. 180 cm and conditions are calm, your guide may take the kayak close to, or under, the Great Torii. At low tide, below approx. 100 cm, the base of the gate becomes visible, offering a powerful sense of its scale.
Routes vary with tide, weather, wind, waves, and safety conditions. Wet-friendly footwear is recommended. This beginner-friendly tour is for guests comfortable on the water. Weight limit: 250 lbs / 113 kg single, 420 lbs / 190 kg tandem.
