Nikko Tosho-guIt is a shrine dedicated to the general Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu as a god of deity in 1617. This shrine is a national treasure. It is also one of the world cultural heritage. The building of the shrine is lacquered and richly colored. There are many sculptures in the pillars, but these are not only for decorations, but also represent forms of belief, academics and thought. In ancient times, it was believed that the monkey would protect the horse. There are eight monkey sculptures here, and human life is caricatures. The sculpture of the three monkeys "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" is famous.
