Museum Civitatense Basilica di San SimplicioThe Basilica of San Simplicio in Olbia is the most important and oldest religious monument in northeastern Sardinia and a testament to the spread of Christianity on the island. It was a cathedral until 1839, a parish church since 1955, and was granted the title of minor basilica by Pope John Paul II in 1993. It is dedicated to San Simplicio, the city's first bishop and martyr under Emperor Diocletian.
