Volcanoes National ParkOn the trekking day, you arrive early at the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing by park rangers, where you are assigned to a specific gorilla family and group. Accompanied by experienced guides and trackers, you then hike through forested slopes of the Virunga Mountains, a trek that can last from one to several hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Once the gorillas are found, visitors are allowed to spend one unforgettable hour observing them at close range, following strict rules to protect both the animals and trekkers.
