  • Blackness Castle
Our first stop on the tour is Blackness Castle, famously featured as Fort William in the filming of Outlander. Known as the "ship that never sailed" due to its distinctive shape resembling a stone ship anchored on the Firth of Forth, the castle offers a glimpse into Scotland’s storied past. During our visit, you'll enjoy a 30-minute guided experience to uncover its fascinating history and it's where they filmed, followed by an additional 30 minutes of free time to explore at your own pace, take photos, and soak in the atmosphere.
  • Midhope Castle
Next on our tour is Midhope Castle, instantly recognisable to Outlander fans as Lallybroch, the cherished home of Jamie Fraser. This 16th-century tower house exudes the charm and history of Scotland's past, making it a favourite among visitors. We will have around 30 minutes to explore the grounds, take photographs, and capture the essence of this iconic location. This stop offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of Outlander and experience the tranquil setting of Jamie’s family estate.
  • Falkland
Our next stop is the charming village of Falkland, best known to Outlander fans as the filming location for the fictional 1940s Inverness. With its picturesque streets and historic buildings, Falkland offers a unique step back in time. We will spend around 1 hour and 15 minutes here, allowing you to explore and enjoy the village at a leisurely pace. You’ll also have the opportunity to grab a bite to eat at one of the local cafés or restaurants, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing break. If you happen to bring your own lunch, you’ll have enough time to visit Falkland Palace on your own, though please note that the palace is closed during the winter months and there is an additional entrance fee to visit. During our visit, your guide will also point out the Bruce Fountain and other Outlander points of interest, ensuring you don’t miss the key highlights.
  • Doune Castle
Our next stop is the impressive Doune Castle, a must-see for film and history enthusiasts. We will spend an hour here, beginning with a 15-minute presentation from your guide to introduce the castle’s history and key details. The remaining 45 minutes are yours to explore at your own pace using the audio guides, included in the entrance fee. Doune Castle is famously featured in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, as Winterfell in the Game of Thrones pilot, and as Castle Leoch, seat of Clan MacKenzie, in Outlander. Please note that the castle is not suitable for visitors using mobility aids due to steep steps and narrow pathways. However, you can enjoy views of the exterior and relax in the courtyard. This stop offers a unique opportunity to step into the world of these iconic series and explore one of Scotland’s most recognisable castles.
  • Culross
Our final stop is the picturesque village of Culross, where we’ll spend 30 minutes exploring its historic charm. This guided visit includes a stop at the iconic Mercat Cross, a symbol of the village’s trading past, and a walk behind Culross Palace to see the beautiful Hanging Garden. From here, you'll enjoy a wonderful view over the River Forth, capturing the essence of this well-preserved 17th-century village. Known for its cobbled streets and distinctive mustard-coloured houses, Culross offers a glimpse into the past and has been featured in Outlander as the fictional town of Cranesmuir. This stop provides a perfect ending to our tour, blending history, scenery, and storytelling.
