Overview
Unawatuna Diving Centre features around 16 distinct dive sites, including the famous "Rangoon" Wreck and the SS Oreste. Under the guidance of a PADI Instructor, divers can experience various specialties while exploring depths from 6 to 30 meters.
- 🐠 Dive options include Reef Dives, Rock Dives, Wreck Dives, and Night Dives.
- 🌊 Hard and soft corals are present at most reef dive sites up to 18 meters, though they are unfortunately rare.
- 🦑 Macro life includes various nudibranchs and coral fish native to the Indian Ocean, along with Sting Rays on the sandy bottom.
- ⚓ Deeper dive sites near Galle harbor feature wrecks like the "Rangoon" (30 m), SS Oreste (22 m), and Galle Ship Wreck (18 m).
- 🐟 The two deeper wrecks host abundant soft corals and fish, with schools of Sweet Lips and other species commonly seen.

Minimum Certification Age is 12 Yrs+
Course Content and Schedule
The PADI ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE takes around 2 to 3 days and includes 5 adventure dives. You will have to do some theory for each dive (without exam) for around half a
day and then 2 or 3 dives per day. Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation are mandatory and then you can choose 3 more adventure dives (wreck, boat, peak performance buoyancy, fish ID and so on) with one of our PADI Dive Instructors.
If you start in the morning, you have to be at our diving centre at 8.30 am for registration. For the afternoon registration you have to be at our Diving Centre at 1.30 pm.
If you want to take the theory of the course online by PADI AOWD eLearning you have to purchase it on the PADI website and register for PADI AOWD eLearning with our diving centre Divinguru Unawatuna, PADI 5 Star Dive Resort, S-36133.
