    Visit the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, renamed Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden, and the highlight of any visit to the north. It is the oldest botanical garden in the southern hemisphere, dating back to 1735.
  • Chateau De Labourdonnais
    If you love history, a visit to Domaine de Labourdonnais in Mapou is a must. Domaine de Labourdonnais is famous for its château, which was built between 1856 and 1859 and was inhabited by a Mauritian family for over 150 years. The house is a neo-classical style with the ground floor elevated and a wide veranda wrapping around the house. Step inside and admire the dining room’s beautifully detailed wallpaper and the grand teak and black wood furniture, learning about the huge jars used to marinade fish and meat in the pantry. Guides are on hand to give you insight into the house and its owners. Outside, you can stroll around the estate’s orchards and landscaped gardens and choose to have a fine dining meal overlooking the house the Château, which serves up gastronomic dishes using fruits and vegetables harvested on the estate. After, pop into the shop and pick up some jams, fruit pastes or rum made from the estate’s fruit.

    he longest beach in the north of Mauritius, Mont Choisy extends to Trou aux Biches and Pointe aux Canonniers, a beach of endless beauty. The beach is easily recognizable by its coast that formed an arc. People worship Draupadi as a Goddess, a Grama Devata (village deity), and as a Kula Devata (family deity). She occupies a central place in the cultural lives of the villagers. She originate from Tamil Nadu in India. Sri Draupadi Amman resides with all her grandeur to bless the world. The temple is renowned for its profound symbolism, intricate detailing, and spiritual significance.
  • Notre Dame Auxiliatrice
    Don’t let Cap Malheureux’s name put you off. These days, there’s nothing malheureux (‘unfortunate’) about this pretty fishing village on the island’s northern tip. The simple little church of Notre Dame Auxiliatrice is one of the most photographed sights on the island – its bright red roof pops against the background of blue sky, turquoise waters and dramatic headland of Le Coin de Mire. You’re welcome to pop into the church, either to join mass or take a peek at the holy water basin made from a giant clam shell.
