Mount Of BeatitudesAccording to the Christian tradition and the New Testament, the Mount of Beatitudes is the place where Jesus gave the "Sermon on the Mount", which included the main points of his teachings. On the top of the mountain are located a monastery, a church, a hostel of Franciscan nuns, a garden and a farm that belongs to the Italian mission in the Land of Israel. The church was built between 1936 and 1938 by the architect Antonio Berlozzi, it is designed in an octagonal shape to symbolize the 8 verses from the "Sermon on the Mount" of Jesus that begin with the word "blessed" and the windows in its eight walls are decorated with the verses of the sermon. On the floor of the church around the altar, there are seven tablets inscribed with the virtues according to the "Sermon on the Mount": hope, humility, faith, courage, justice, generosity and wisdom. down the mountain are the remains of a Byzantine church and monastery. These buildings date from the time period between the 4-7th century AD.
