The archaeological site; cosy streets with many shops, cafes, restaurants, and of course breath-taking views that you can pick out from the temple will reward you for your visit

KalathosThe term ‘ceramic’ comes from the Greek word meaning ‘pottery’. Do you know that pottery has magic in it? Why? Because it comes from nature as a meeting of 3 elements: earth, water & fire. Earth and water are the raw materials, fire gives the object color and durability while human hearts and hands give them shape. Clay is the symbol of creativity, many myths describe it to be the material out of which the first men, plants, and animals come to be. The piece of clay will turn into a piece of art right in front of your eyes. Then the owner of this cosy workshop will invite you to taste their oil, honey, and some other products of their family.

Mandraki HarbourMandraki Harbour has been in use since ancient times and was formerly the military port of Rhodes; it was protected from attack by gigantic chains across its narrow mouth and later by the impregnable bulk of the Fort of St Nicholas, built in 1467 and still watching over the marina. Over the centuries the harbor was also a successful and rich trading port but these days its role in Rhodes life is entirely peaceful; a fetching clutch of billionaires’ super-yachts bob in the marina alongside traditional fishing boats and a multitude of tour boats, which depart every day in summer to visit islands off the coast of Rhodes – including Symi and Nisyros – as well as ferrying visitors to local beaches and on diving trips.

Old Town of RhodesRhodes Old Town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988, but it’s not your classic heritage spot and it’s certainly unlike the main town of any other Greek island. The streets are so well-preserved that you half expect a knight on horseback to ride past at any time. And that’s before you turn into the Ottoman or Jewish districts, which have a very different feel to them. And yet Rhodes town also retains a distinctive Greek island vibe. There are many shops and restaurants within the walls, particularly around central Hippokratous Square, but there are also quaint and quiet alleyways, adding to the charm of a town that is almost car-free.
