Let’s beautifully display your calligraphy in a traditional way. I’ll teach you calligraphy from scratch, so even beginners can feel at ease.
In our activity, we don’t stop at calligraphy practice-we also guide you through making a traditional Kakejiku (hanging scroll). You’ll have about an hour to practice calligraphy thoroughly, ensuring that even first-timers can write confidently.
On the spot, we’ll turn your chosen calligraphy piece into a kakejiku, allowing you to select the best one from your practice to become your final artwork. Unlike typical calligraphy experiences where pre-made paper or scrolls leave no room for mistakes, I, as the successor of a kakejiku studio with over 100 years of history, am skilled in scroll-making.

Write calligraphy or paint a picture, and then turn it into a traditional Japanese "kakejiku" (hanging scroll). As a kakejiku, it will beautifully decorate your home and last for over 100 years. By transforming your handmade artwork into a kakejiku, you can deeply experience Japanese culture.
Founded in 1936, we have been offering traditional crafts for over 80 years. Calligraphy and painting with brush and ink provide a uniquely Japanese experience. Kakejiku embody over 1000 years of techniques refined for beauty and preservation, resulting in a masterpiece of wabi-sabi just for you.
You will choose from four course options:
・Calligraphy and Backing Only (no tapestry or hanging scroll included).
・Calligraphy, Backing, and Simple Traditional Tapestry.
・Calligraphy, Backing, and Kakejiku (Hanging Scroll with Magnetic Attachment).
You will be able to take home with you the item you made on the same day. *
* If you wish to upgrade your artwork into an Authentic Kakejiku (Hanging Scroll), it will take approximately two months for professional finishing and shipping. (Details on additional costs for finishing and shipping will be provided on the day of the workshop.)
