Tour of Muscat's museums
Overview
Make the most of a tour which will take you to see the three major museums of Muscat, it is the perfect way to discover the culture of the city and Oman.
Your first stop is the Bait Adam Museum, which is privately owned by Mr. Latif. You will be welcomed by the owner who is also the curator and a man passionate about preserving and displaying some of Oman's history and culture. There are swords, guns, pieces of armour, jewlery, coins, maps, paintings and large black and white photos of old Muscat in his personal collection. The curator provides deep insight into his vast collection and you can feel free to ask questions.
After enjoying their warm Omani hospitality proceed to Old town area of Muscat and stop at National Museum of Oman for a visit. The National Museum has galleries which cover an area of 4,000 square meters. The galleries have been designed and sectioned chronologically and thematically. It has a vast collection from past to the present with Maritime History, Prehistory and Ancient History, Oman and the World history.
You will then get to the Bait Al Zubair Museum, which was initially founded as a house by a rich merchant, who had a hobby of collecting antiques and photography. Later in 1998, he converted his house to a museum showcasing the culture and artifacts of Oman.
