- Adventure with us on this magical Northern Lights hunt, departing at 9pm this evening cruise from Tromsø in the darkness of Polar Night. This guided cruise aboard the large, comfortable sightseeing catamaran MS Rygerdronningen departs from Tromsø, some 350 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. During the winter, the sun sets in Tromsø around the 27 November and normally doesn’t rise until 15 January, which creates an amazing dark condition for seeing this once in a lifetime scene. You can look out for the Aurora through the panoramic windows of our warm, cozy cabin and then head out into the crisp Arctic air for a look from our spacious decks for an even clearer view. The Auroras are unforgettable light shows caused by electrically charged particles from the sun colliding with gases in the Earth’s atmosphere. They are best seen near the Earth’s North and South Poles. They can be many colors, although green is the most common. (pass by)
